    3. hiya, just to let you know we are not looking at the larger area once called Tanshelf in Pontefract (covers Wakefield Road, Love Lane & Halfpenny Lane areas) but the housing estate, built around 1890 and demolished 1971 / 1972 Some of the streets can be found on the 1891 Census, but by 1901 all of the others are there: Stuart Street main road through with St George Terrace, Newport Street (where I lived with parents) York Street, Princess Street (my grandparents Richard & Clara REYNOLDS lived when 1st married) Chapman/Chatburn Street, Duke Street, Railway Avenue, Colonel's Walk (road still there running down hill towards footpath bridge under railway lines) Headlands (my great grandparents Harry & Annie PONSONBY lived) was facing the baths. Sessions House Yard & Headlands Villas (only 3 houses) of Watergate (road still there behind Haribo/Dunhills). Coburg Street, Nutt Street, Anderson Street and Victoria Street (where my mother born) There was a school, Railways Station, Baths, Bakehouse, Methodist Chapel Hall, Picture House, Alexander Theatre (later used as Bingo Hall) and lots & lots of shops. If you drive past the area now all have gone, even the Queen's Hotel that was facing the housing estate, has been turns into private flats. Alex (as we called theatre) was demolished and nightclub built called Kiko's which now stands empty. The Fire Station built on where I lived has sadly now closed & joined with Knottingley/ Only our/your memories last & photos, hidden away in bottom of wardrobes or in attics so please have a look and kindly share with other folk from down Tansh' thank you THANK YOU Maureen & Jacky Taking to few folk other day & we surprised how many memories & families we all knew
