    2. Could it have been http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/docsummary.php?docID=2094 this one, John? I searched Google for railway accident 1926 and it took me to Wikipedia: check other accidents here before assuming it was this one, as I am not familiar with all the location names. No names, but a date will help you search newspapers. She told me that one female child was killed on a level crossing in 1926, and another child was called Fred. My mother was 6 in 1926 and probably knew her cousin. I have failed to find out much more from 1901 census, and the only possible marriage is to Joseph Weston m 2Q1902 (Sheffield 9c 818) in FreeBMD. I would like to know more about the level crossing accident. Despite being a Yorkshireman I have not got to grips with information sources for south Yorkshire. ==John ffitch Some useful websites - FREECEN - http://www.freecen.org.uk/ FREEBMD - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ FREEREG - http://www.freereg.org.uk/ Want to know where a place in Yorkshire is - Try Genuki http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WEST-RIDING-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Don't think it was this rail accident as Parkgate and Rawmarsh are near to Rotherham which is a considerable distance ( about 15 miles) from Doncaster.... and Stainforth is a further 8 miles or so NE of Doncaster...therefore around 23-25 miles in total. Accident could have happened if family were visiting possible Weston relatives who lived north of Sheffield - not far from Rotherham. If child killed it would have been in local newspapers - but means possibly checking up to 52 assuming it was 1926 - suggest work backwards as coroner's report etc may be a week or more after the accident. Possibly the railway (LNER) had archived records too - just a thought Richard -----Original Message----- From: west-riding-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:west-riding-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of maggiemole@aol.com Sent: 08 March 2012 5:16 PM To: west-riding@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WRY] Seeking information on Rail Accident Could it have been http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/docsummary.php?docID=2094 this one, John? 3. Hi   The Search Engine (I love the witty title!), the archive section of the National Railway Museum in York has archived official accident reports, though I think you can only search in person and not online.   http://www.nrm.org.uk/ResearchAndArchive.aspx   Regards,   Lesley ________________________________ From: richardellis <richard@ellisresearch.demon.co.uk> To: west-riding@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, 9 March 2012, 14:03 Subject: Re: [WRY] Seeking information on Rail Accident Don't think it was this rail accident  as Parkgate and Rawmarsh are near to Rotherham which is a considerable distance ( about 15 miles) from Doncaster.... and Stainforth is a further 8 miles or so NE of Doncaster...therefore around 23-25 miles in total.
