Could I bring to the attention of the list the fact that Findmypast have recently launched 74,000 new records of the Manchester Pals' battalions and other combatants from the Manchester area in WWI? FMP say in their blurb that they contain "a significant number from Yorkshire". They are contained in two databases... 1) The Manchester City Battalions (the Pals Battallions) - 11,000 records compiled from lists with photographs, though unfortunately the photos are not linked to names. 2) The Manchester Roll of Honour - some 63,000 records of people who worked for Manchester companies and who served in some capacity in WWI. It is this database that FMP says particularly contains many from Yorkshire, also a few from Cheshire and Derbyshire. The records have been supplied by the Manchester & Lancashire FHS - well done to them, and I never thought I'd say that!
