    3. Hi Listers I'd like to run a family mystery pass you and would appreciate your thoughts & advice. My wife's grandfather Henry BACKHOUSE wasa born 3 August 1872 at Cutsyke Whitwood Yorkshire mother Elizabeth BACKHOUSE no father given on birth cert but an informant was a Joseph ROBINSON occupier Cutsyke Whitwood Now at that time the only Elizabeth to fit the role of his mother was Elizabeth BACKHOUSE (1860)daughter of John BACKHOUSE and yes the sums say she was only 12 when she gave birth to Henry, he then disappears until his marriage in 1899 to Mary Ann RICHMOND in Bingley Wry and then again on the 1901 census born Castleford. Henry was a Master Fellmonger. Elizabeth is not seen again until she marries Arthur MASKILL IN 1878 both give their address at time of marriage as Cutsyke Arthur & Elizabeth have numerous children the last one born in 1900 and called Henry. Another Henry comes to light born 1872/73Castleford to Elizabeth BACKHOUSE (1849) and would seem he to was born illegitimate he appears on the 1871 census age 8 the son of Samuel GREENWOOD and Elizabeth Greenwood Samuel & Elizabeth were married in 1876.Elizabeth is the sister John Backhouse (1836) father of Elizabeth (1860) Now getting back to Joseph ROBINSON the informant at the birth of Henry he married Jane Backhouse (1827) who is also the sister of Elizabeth(1849) & John (1836) To add to the confusion looking through the bmd's I came across an Elizabeth BACKHOUSE who might have married a Joseph ROBINSON or a William WILKINSON IN 1866.We won't mention Elizabeth Backhouse (1822) who had Stephen out of wedlock.
