Ernest SYKES died Aug 3rd 1949 and is buried in Lockwood Cemetery. He received the VC in WWI. Could anyone please help me to find his gravestone, and if possible take a photograph for me. I would also be grateful if you could direct me to local newspaper archives for his death notice/obituary. I think the Huddersfield Examiner would be the local paper, but am not certain of that. Would there be any little local broadsheets for Milnsbridge, where he apparently lived for many years, or for Lockwood? TIA Warm regards, Elaine in Toronto
Wondering if anyone could look for a John Walsh b. abt 1853 Ireland and his family, wife Ellen b. abt 1864 in the 1891 census. Living in Dewsbury with up to 9 children. I cancelled my Ancestry last week and now a family member sent me his death certificate. Wouldn't you know all along we had him listed as Jack and his wife as Mary. No wonder we could never find him. Thanks Jenn
