All other census returns have her born in Wigan but Im thinking this could be a clue. Her maiden name was Horrocks and 2 of my Wigan Horrocks declare birth place to be Yorkshire in 1 census only. Ann Horrocks circa 1823 says Leeds and William circa 1821 says N/K Yorkshire. >>Its a mystery. Looking at the image, I'd definitely read it as Norbary: there is a squiggle above the r as if the writer changed his mind, and it can look a bit like another b. Which would lead, as someone else suggested, to Norbury, Halifax. Hope this helps Maggie
