    3. Anabelle, I have found that many of my Firths (and other names) in the area have used Bristall, Hartshead and Dewsbury parishes almost at will, so your Samual could have been born in one and baptised in the other. Good luck with your research Margaret Switzerland On 4 Oct 2007, at 11:03, Annabelle Sutton wrote: Hello , while I appreciate what Roy is saying, (I myself spent 2 years searching for my Alford line in Devon, befor I was on the web or knew about the L.D.S.) I cannot go along with all he says. Yes, we can all access the L.D.S. IF, we are able.My nearest L.D.S.centre is about 50 miles away, and as I care for 2 disabled family members, I am VERY limited on the time I have for myself. I know there are many people out there who are disabled and elderly, and maybe like me, care for disabled and are unable to get to these centres. The only way we can attempt to research when we are tied, is on the web. Some, maybe, are unable to afford to pay for researchers, and hope by joining a list like this someone will help. O.K. some go over the top, some maybe are trying to take advantage, but not all. I would like to thank Anne Lucas for the recent help she has given me, it was much appreciated, and I do know how hard it is going through old records. My Samuel Firth who said he was born in Dewsbury (maybe he was) was christened in Birstall. I found the Genuki site, recomended by someone on the list, very useful http://www.genuki.org.uk/contents/ and this site which tells me which records have been filmed by the L.D.S. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/ CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle best wishes, Annabelle. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WEST-RIDING- request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
