Just found John Pick's Christening on the IGI as you said in Spofforth. His father was George and I believe he was the chap that was buried in Boston Spa in 1816. He was aged 62. Buried 13 May. Could that be a match? Seem to quite a few of them in Spofforth Elaine in Ottawa. Hello Elaine Thanks for your helpful emails. I have noted the burial reference for George - looks like John's father. John Pick was also a stonemason ( from later census info) so it does seem to run in the family. A professional researcher searched for the "missing" children of John and Anne PICK in the Bramham and Boston parish registers ( and sent me copies of entries for the four known children found originally in the IGI). It is possible, though I judge unlikely, that the earlier baptisms were not CofE. I have seen the marriage record (Bristol) for Harriet PICK and Robert CALL and it seems to contain no info which would help with the Yorkshire problem - though there is a possibility that one of the witnesses is Yorkshire born too. I have a good pedigree for Robert CALL going back to the early 1700s - he came from Devon. He was a waiter who became a lodging house keeper. I will investigate the Hugh Wallis site and have noted your link for the Yorkshire Archeological Society. Thanks again for your valuable response.
