    3. From: "Carol Groves" <bluebell64@optusnet.com.au> > Are there any PEARSON out there, please give me BUZZ carol.> Are you aware how many Pearsons there are likely to be "out there"? To give you an example of how common the surname is, there were 34,786 people called Pearson in the 1881 census of Britain. Of these, the greatest number - 5,552 - were living in the West Riding of Yorkshire, with 1,212 in Bradford alone. The numbers must be far, far higher today. If you expect any seriously helpful replies, it might help you to be a little more specific - unless you are doing a one-name study, which with a very frequent name like Pearson I tend to doubt! -- Roy Stockdill Editor, Journal of One-Name Studies Guild of One-Name Studies website: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." 3. Hi Carol Yes there are PEARSON people out there. I am interested in William Pearson who married Mary Ellen UMPLEBY in 1883. Their son Leonard came to NZ in the early part of the 1900's. Leonard had a brother John and a sister Ida. Does any of this ring any bells. Kind Regards, Jenny Lang, of Howick (by the sea), Auckland, New Zealand.
