As there are no marriages > mentioned for the chapel, where would they most likely have occurred? > regards Lyn> Probably St Mary's, Gisburn, since Houghton (or Tosside) Chapel was originally a chapel of ease to St Mary's. This is explained on the website to which I drew your attention. Apparently the chapel is one of those deeply unfortunate places which, thanks to the machinations of the idiot Whitehall bureaucrats in 1974, used to be in Yorkshire and is now in Lancashire! -- Roy Stockdill Editor, Journal of One-Name Studies Guild of One-Name Studies website: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
