    3. Hi Lyn, After checking through my Family Tree I am not 100% sure but I don't think James is related to the Upper Hallam/Attercliffe Woodhouse's. What makes me a little uneasy about that statement is that apart from the land they leased & farmed (1700's)from the Duke of Norfolk in the Fulwood area (Mayfield Valley) they also had a corn mill. When Wm Woodhouse jnrs family started to grow they moved on to Attercliffe where they again had a Corn Mill in the very early 1800's. As that part of the family grew they moved away with some still stating their occupation as Corn Millers. Others moved into the Steel Mills. However I believe but have not found the link that an Ecclesfield branch (early 1700's) belong to this group as well. Owlerton at the time of James's birth would have come under Ecclesfield. On the 1861/81 census your James is a Corn Miller so I rest my case. He could indeed be related to the Upper Hallam Branch. All were baptised in the 1700's at Sheffield Parish Church but later became Methodists. One of the Attercliffe branches that moved out to New Zealand became Wesleyan Ministers. Do you know who James 1827 father was???? Elaine in Ottawa. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lyn Lawrence" <ela82128@bigpond.net.au> To: <WEST-RIDING@rootsweb.com> Sent: October 31, 2007 8:38 PM Subject: Re: [WRY] WOODHOUSE Sheffield > Hello All, > Thank you elaine for the reply. > Walter James WOODHOUSE born 1860 3rd child of > James WOODHOUSE [born 1827 Sheffield] and Betty WOODROOFE [born 1828 > Sheffield] > other children are: > Morris WOODHOUSE b 1856 died 1875 Sheffield > Annie Woodroofe WOODHOUSE born 1857 Sheffield > John Henry WOODHOUSE BORN 1862 Sheffield. > > the WOODROOFE side of the family came from Hope in Derbyshire. > > Lyn, > NSW, Aus > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > WEST-RIDING-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.5.503 / Virus Database: 269.15.15/1101 - Release Date: > 10/31/2007 10:06 AM > >
