Hi Listers Please correct me if I am wrong but........... I thought that Ancestry used 'our' FreeBMD on their site and didn't transcribe their own FreeBMD. I was on the Ancestry.co.uk site this morning and found two deaths which say they are from FreeBMD. If you then check on FreeBMD these deaths are not there. The Ancestry ones are correct because I have checked on the original indices on Findmypast. These deaths occured in 1951 and 1959 and I didn't think that FreeBMD has transcribed the index so far forward. I have also found one marriage on Ancestry for 1946 which says it has come from FreeBMD. It is on the Findmypast index but not on FreeBMD. This is not a criticism of FreeBMD, far from it, but how has Ancestry transcribed marriages & deaths from FreeBMD when FreeBMD have not done it yet. There is probably a simple explanation for this which I have failed to see. Maybe Ancestry are transcribing their own 'FreeBMD'. Has anyone any ideas. BTW It has saved me many hours of trawling through the GRO Index!! Kind regards Judith K
