    3. I am researching the HIELD family from Escrick and Chapel Haddlesy nr Birkin West Yorkshire. I have a transcript of a letter which was sent to America dated 1846 (This is a section of the letter) " Chapel Hadellesy Jan 26, 1846 Dear Sis and Children I duly received your letter and newspaper dated Oct 27th in about 5 weeks, but had seen that you had sent to Mr Wilkerson a while before and am glad to here of your health. You have by this time felt what it is to be a stranger in a strange land but a conviction in your own mind. you are in the way of Providence is a consolation. I much doubt Bro Blyth being well but I fear from an account i heard from mrs. ? he is not alive you may have heard from the family he has bought a farm near Roschester at a high price. You be much hurt to hear George Hield of Scarborough took a fever I think with much exertion when the railway was opened through excess of business his mother came to wait upon him was frequently delirious and in a few weeks died. Thomas went to see him and fret much. He died in harvest. Thomas was at our house at the time. " I am trying to find GEORGE HIELD of Scarborough who died in 1845 at Scarborough on the 1841 census. I have tried all kinds of variation for the spelling including Field ! Please could someone tell me how wide an area i should search for Scarborough on the 1841 census. Even better if its not to much to ask, could someone find him for me. I know some of the 1841 census is unreadable so that might after all be why i cannot find him. The auther of the letter was also a GEORGE HIELD born in 1800 in Escrick, son of Richard and Elizabeth HIELD. My g-great-grandmother MARGARET GILBERTSON married him in 1842 in at Aldborough (near York). George was a farmer of Chapel Haddlesy with three children from a previouse marriage. I have the marriage and death cert for this GEORGE, he died in 1847 at Chapel Haddlesy, Birkin, Yorkshire. Thank you Carole _________________________________________________________________ The next generation of Hotmail is here! http://www.newhotmail.co.uk
