Hi Folks, Can someone please help and make my Christmas?!! In the 1851 census, I have a Thomas SAYLES b. 1796 in Hampole, m. to a Sarah b. 1797 in Bentley Doncaster, with a daughter Jane GARBENS? b.1824 in Marr, Cristeford GARBENS?? son-in law b. 1822 in Darfield; William GARBENS? grandson, b. 1850 in Pigburn; Mary Ann SAYLES, daughter b. 1828 in Marr; Harriet SAYLES, daughter b. 1842 in Pigburn; Sarah SAYLES, granddaughter b. 1849 in Pigburn. In the 1841 census, the name is Thomas SALES b. 1796; Sarah SALES b. 1797; Mary SALES b. 1828; George SALES b. 1830; Joseph SALES b.1832; Thomas SALES b. 1837; and Harriet SALES b. 1841. I am assuming that they are the same family and the spelling change is because they are illiterate. I'm not sure how I can confirm if they are the same family. If someone has access to either the Hampole PRs or possibly the Adwick-le- Street PRs could they please check the marriage of Thomas and Sarah and supply Sarah's maiden name and also any predecessors of both? This would really make my Christmas!! Thanking you in anticipation and wishing all on the List a very MERRY Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. Steve.
