Hello John, Is there a secondary reason for assuming Alfred was alive when his son Ernest married? The fact he is not recorded as deceased on his son's marriage certificate does not necessarily mean he was alive. I have several certificates where father's details are recorded without any "deceased" annotation, yet there were dead and buried. You may have to widen your search back to when you last knew he was alive.
