    3. I was going through some Otley Parish Registers on CD-ROM today, extracting entries for my MOODY ancestors (anyone got Moodys from Otley, we are almost certainly related, BTW) when I noticed the following entry in the registers at the beginning of 1801..... "Here commenceth the nineteenth Century of the Christian era" Note that this appears at the start of 1801 and NOT 1800. I am aware I am dredging up an old argument, but I do seem to recall when the whole world celebrated the start of a new millennium in 2000 there were many who argued that it was the wrong year and it should have been 2001. It seems to me that this argument was unchallengeable unless you believe that there was a year nought AD! I believe the start of the 20th century also was marked in 1901, not 1900. I just wondered if anyone else has noticed an entry in a parish register in a millennium year and what was it? -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
