Re SHEARD. So far I've only been tracking Sheard's from Mirfield. I can help with some of them. My 4th g-grandmother was Susanna SHEARD b~1743 who married Joseph ARMYTAGE b-1747 on 26 Dec 1769 in Mirfield Her father was a Samuel SHEARD. The couple's son was Quartermaster Sergeant John ARMITAGE of the Honourable East India Company. He spent much of his career in the Chatham Barracks.in Kent. (A history book about the company tells the story of a group of enterprising Sergeants at the barracks who billed all the departing soldiers for a broken window that had been cracked for years. Apparently they made a small fortune one shilling at a time. - Now I know where my g-grandfather Armitage DENTON got all his money!!) Nelson
