I've examined both the West Riding and Leeds pages, now, Collin, but they are a bit too early for me. I am in need of the 1770's to 1810's period in all branches I'm researching in Yorkshire. my people of interest are Charles Murfitt b. abt 1777, d. abt 1843, son of either John Murfitt and Sarah Charlesworth or Samuel Murfitt and Frances Chew. Charles m. first Sarah Clifforth/Clifford, no data on her, but they were married 6 Apr 1801 in Birstall and she had one known child, William Clifforth Murfitt b. 24 Nov 1803 Birstall who's name changed to William Clifford Moffitt when he moved to the U.S. Sarah died before 7 Mar 1806 in Birstall. she might be Sally Clifford chr. 6 Oct 1779 Birstall dau. of William. Charles Murfitt m. 2nd to Martha Scholefield 17 Nov 1806 Birstall. I do not know if they had any children. William m. Martha Mason b. 25 Mar 1810 Armley, she was a daughter of William Mason b. 2 Jun 1774 Armley and Martha Smith, no data on her. we do know that William Mason and Martha Smith married 1 May 1796 in Batley. I have not found when or where William Murfitt and Martha Mason married. it is believed she came to America with her brother William, and that their brother Christopher followed afterwards. also, it is believed that William Murfitt came with William Mason. I have yet to find immigration records for them, though. William Murfitt and Martha Mason are found in Northampton, Massachusetts, U.S.A. in the 1840 census. William Mason is living next door to them in 1850, and cannot be found in 1840 in the U.S. or 1841 in England, so the supposition that they came together (along with the family stories) may be wrong. we believe that William Mason Sr.'s father was Christopher Mason but have nothing more on him. if I could access the parish records for those periods and dates, I might find more on the people I'm researching, but I haven't accessed them as yet. we do know they were Church of England. we've been fortunate to find a lot of birth dates for the family, and do have their chr. dates, as well. I hope I haven't left out any data that should be here. regards, BODY { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px; } Cornelia On Sun 12/13/09 12:01 AM , [email protected] sent: Today's Topics: 1. These go up to around the mid 1700s. There are also some of the early Armley registers there. (see the Leeds Parish page). I think everyone else did the same as me - clicked the link immediately, and the site server is down. Perhaps another day - thanks all for the telling us about it and what's on there - makes a change for some free information that won't cost us an arm and a leg in membership fees!
