Hi everyone Thanks to all who replied re 'j' being used in roman numerals on the online registers. It was very helpful and I'd never have thought of it being an extra digit. Like Jenny I spent over 6 hours just going through the Snaith one yesterday - wish I'd found the marriages first as I could then have searched for the offspring linked to the female side whose name would have changed after marriage. Having found many Rudd's I now need a link after 1650 to show that these were probably my Rhodes side - I found more than 30 Rudd's and only about 5 or 6 Rodes and as mine were not gentry I'm more inclined to think they'd have had quite large families. Next is the Dewsbury line which I thought was only listed from sometime in 1800s but on opening the register it again went back to 1500s. Can't wait to get at it! Happy Christmas everyone. Jean
