Does anyone know if there is a book about the churches of Halifax? I have tried Genuki but it doesn't give me histories, and I'm particularly interested to find all the churches in the Ovenden - Northowram - Shelf area, and when they opened for business. I need to start some serious investigation into burial places for my family, and don't have a clue which churches they used. thanks! Maggie

Maggie, You can get a paper list of ALL Churches, in the Parish of Halifax from Calderdale Library - - I have copies but mine are quite old and may now be out of date. Mine list 56 CofE Church's and about 200 Non-parochial Churches/Chapels. These give all dates of Registers they hold (on Fiche) for BMD's. If you like, I will photocopy and send the 7 pages to your home address. Regards, Gordon.
