The Huddersfield Chronicle had a detailed account of a suicide incident and inquest in 1864. Now I wonder if it is possible to access a similar report in Huddersfield in 1893 and where would I look for the information. Jean in S. Jean This sounds very likely to have been in the newspaper (I found quite a detailed one of my gg-grandfather who died in 1895 in an accident.) You could try the Huddersfield Examiner, as it would have been around at that time http://www.examiner.co.uk/ In the past I've also found the Local History dept of Huddersfield Library very helpful, they photocopied an report for me*, althought that was about 5 years ago. My late dad arranged it, I have a note from him saying the contact was ' a very useful chap called Frank on 01484 226300'. * incidentally, that newspaper report, from 1936, was headed 'Exciting scene at Ravensthorpe, two men knocked down, one dies from injuries'. Not sure we'd use 'exciting' to describe that these days! Good luck with it Kim --- On Wed, 3/2/10, jean and terry <[email protected]> wrote: From: jean and terry <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [WRY] Inquest details in Newspaper To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, 3 February, 2010, 8:53 The Huddersfield Chronicle had a detailed account of a suicide incident and inquest in 1864.
