Hi Andy, Have you seen the Ancestral File info for Martha Armitage? Christened 4 Aug 1833 Kirkheaton, father Joseph Armitage mother Mary Batley. I know you shouldn't accept these files as gospel, but it's an avenue to check. I say this, not having the first idea where South Crosland is, but am assuming it to be in the area. cheers Maggie -----Original Message----- From: Andy Micklethwaite <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Fri, 5 Feb 2010 7:50 Subject: Re: [WRY] South Crosland baptisms - Martha Matilda ARMITAGE about 1833 Hi Joan That site is vaguely familiar :-) I have now deleted it as the version at www.ancestryhost.org/andymick is the one I update. Thanks for your input - South Crosland is indeed where Jean suggests, and was a chapelry of Almondbury (see Genuki) - and not that far from Kirkheaton. I hadn't seen the Kirkheaton one (thanks Maggie) but there are 2 Marthas on the 1851 census so working out which is which is going to be hard, if not impossible, unless the Matilda bit crops up somewhere, sometime. Armitage is after all a common name in that neck of the woods. I'll keep looking! Thanks for all your input. Best Wishes, Andy.
I'm assuming it is in the Lockwood Crosland Moor area of Huddersfield. Jean in S.
