The blog will be updated weekly with new articles, book reviews, updates on what I am currently researching, links to relevant websites etc. There are three different ways to get updates - you chose which one suits you best go to the blog page bradfordww1.blogspot.co.uk you can click "follow by email" in the right hand column to receive the updates by email go to the facebook page for the website https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/BradfordWW1/198400340172031 and click the like button at the top of the page - all blog posts are linked from herefollow me on twitter http://twitter.com/#!/Bradfordww1 for more regular updates If you want to contribute You can comment on the blog posts by clicking on the word "comment" in the pink box at the end of an article. You can email at westyorkshirelives@live.co.uk with "Your stories" of your ancestors living in Bradford at the time of the first world war and I will upload them to the site attributed to you or you can remain anonymous. I would never post anything without your prior consent. Hope this helps - the world of twitter and bogs is new to me too and I am just learning how they all fit together but so far it has been great experience to share and chat to others about this research. Oh an I have just added a blog about some exciting new records I have obtained that include "notable dates in Bradford from 1066 to 1922" read the blog to find out more and if you want a look up of a specific date please let me know. It also has a street directory for 1910 - no names but useful for working out the full address of a house and placing streets in the correct district thanks all Kathryn Dr Kathryn Hughes www.westyorkshirelives.co.uk westyorkshirelives@live.co.uk From: kathryn_hughes@live.co.uk To: yorksgen@rootsweb.com; west-riding@rootsweb.com; eng-yks-bradford@rootsweb.com Subject: New Bradford WW1 website & blog includes name index Date: Tue, 23 Aug 2011 22:40:19 +0100 Hi, I thought i'd all let you know about my new website and blog about life in Bradford during WW1 - www.bradfordww1.co.uk The site is still in its infancy and will continue to be added to as the centenary approaches sign up to the blog - bradfordww1.blogspot.com - or follow me on twitter bradfordww1 to be kept informed of latest research. It includes information on a range of subjects from rations, war relief, hospitals (to be added soon) as well as a name index of people I come across in the archives/newspapers. I would love to be able to include your stories about your ancestors who served with a Bradford Battalion or who lived in Bradford during the war as a memorial to them and to provide a legacy of their stories for future generation to learn from. I am also thinking about developing teaching resources for use in schools but this may happen further down the line. If you have any feedback on the site (which is best viewed in firefox), other topics you would like to be included in the site, stories you would like to share or anything else please feel free to contact me regards Dr Kathryn Hughes www.westyorkshireLives.co.uk
