Hi Ian Rastrick would have come under Halifax registration district. The March quarter for 1844 in D.ewsbury has a birth for an Ephzibeth HIRST. I checked the image and yes, it really is Ephzibeth, but I can't see any death or marriage for Ephzibeth Hirst- I wonder if they decided if it was too much trouble to keep explaining it and reverted to Elizabeth. Do any of your Elizabeth's siblings have obscure biblical names? regards, Lesley ________________________________ From: Ian <ianbrooke@hotmail.com> To: Yorkshire List <WEST-RIDING-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, 14 October 2011, 18:47 Subject: [WRY] Rastrick Hi, I’m having trouble finding the birth certificate for my Gt Gt Grandmother, Elizabeth Hirst. According to the 1851 census (and confirmed by later census’s) she was 6 years old so born in 1844/5. I can find one birth of the right name in Dec 1844 but it’s the wrong person (mother’s & father’s names are wrong). Her parents and siblings were all born in Liversedge/Cleckheaton and I have been looking in the Dewsbury records. Elizabeth however was born in Rastrick and I don’t know which district this would come under (or even why she was born there when the parents were living still in Liversedge). There are 2 possible births in 1845 listed under Huddersfield – does anyone know which district Rastrick would have been in at that time?
