'ello, Maggie, I have Fiche for this period ........ However, the date for record 558 is 20th AUGUST 1822 (Not October) and notes are given are : The name is John Thomas, but in the signature, it seems to say John Thomas "Jun" There is NO middle name listed for Nanny Isles, but a "note" gives the info. that this is the only record in this volume, where the Bride is not shown as either Spinster or Widow. In my IGI, there is a Baptism of a Nancy ISLES, d/o Nathan ISLES, 12 Mar 1797 at Halifax Square Chapel. Regards, Gordon. I'm looking at page 186, October 20th 1822, and a marriage between John Thomas and Nanny xxxx Isles both of Ovenden. Nanny signs rather than makes a mark and includes in her signature a middle name, which I cannot make out (I've been using the new Ancestry West Yorkshire Parish Records). I'm hoping the fiche will make it a little clearer than the online image. Hi, Gordon, You're absolutely right about August - sorry about that. And it does say soething like Junr but I don't know that I'm convinced yet. However, a) the banns entry 1645 shows Nanny as a spinster b) there really is a middle word in her name, I can see it. I'll send the image from ancestry this evening, in a rush today to get to the probate office. many thanks Maggie -----Original Message----- From: gordon dyson <gordon.dyson@gmail.com> To: west-riding@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 4 Jul 2011 22:36 Subject: Re: [WRY] Halifax fiche marriages 'ello, Maggie, I have Fiche for this period ........
