Hi there I have seen the same thing too. I have also seen what appear to be twins, definately from the same parents, one bapt. 10 days after the other in 1813. Possibilities: 1. They were twins but one twin was baptised on the intended day, but the other twin perhaps wasn't well and was baptiased seperately afterwards. 2. They were not twins, one was born the year before, and for whatever reason, the baptism didn't take place when intended. (Although highly unlikely I think). Can any one think of any other reason? Thanks Lynne
Multiple christenings took place. Five of my grandfather's siblings were christened on the same day. People often led chaotic lives and because of cost or lack of organisation would delay. Pressure from the vicar would possibly contribute too. I have seen one where 9 children in the family were all baptised on the same day. Think it was either yeadon or Guiseley Alan -----Original Message----- From: west-riding-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:west-riding-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Pamela Caldwell Sent: 06 July 2011 19:13 To: Lynne Scaife; west-riding@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WRY] Double christening entries Multiple christenings took place.
