    3. Please could some one do a lookup for me in the 1911 census. I am looking for Joseph Madden from Ireland  [suspect Galway  and parish town Newtown as on the IGI. BORN 23 March  1876] He could be in the Wigan area  of Lancs. as his future wife Elizabeth Sharrock born 1886 Wigan but they did not marry  until 1926 in Barnsley West Riding Yorks..Or they most likely are living in the Barnsley area and their first child was born in Barnsley  in 1912. Elizabeth could have been living with him under his name. I will say thankyou now for any help I get.  Barrie Haigh from lovely Anna Bay  Australia Thankyou.

And do not make the mistake of thinking it doesn't matter! I happen to know that FMP police these things and I believe several people have had their access to the 1911 withdrawn. This restriction, in fact, applies to every paid-for online website, also CDs etc that you buy from family history societies. EVERY single resource has a similar clause in the licence, however so many people (especially beginners to family history) seem to think it's OK to ignore it and that everything should be free. This is not so! Remember that the large organisations like FMP and Ancestry have invested huge amounts of money in bringing these resources to us - and so do the smaller family history societies - and they are fully entitled to recoup their costs. If you don't wanrt to take out a full subscription to the 1911 census, you can buy pay- as-you-go units and do the search for yourself. -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
