According to my husband, who grew up in Castleford, William Street was on the north bank of the River Aire, and therefore in the Allerton Bywater parish, while also being in the Castleford Urban District. Perhaps the West Riding Registry of Deeds would be a good place to make enquiries. There may also be some record of who paid the rates on these houses in the local authority records.
