    1. [WRY] Re James Wildblood
    2. Hi Sharlie, Always, Always, always be aware of transcription errors both original and modern..... and think outside the square. There are a few transcription errors with spellings. Where obvious, I have sent those I saw to be altered on the index of ancestry.com so this family can more easily be found - I guess they will be sorted out in a week or two. It appears your James WILDBLOOD married Mary WELLINGS nee? - Dec Qtr 1877 - Proof comes with a stepson to James in 1891 as one 20 year old William H Wellings a stepson to James Wellings senior. Thus this Mary who is listed in the 1881 and 1891 is apparently not the mother of James (jun), Martha or Nellie - if they are all are the chn of James senior. James is listede under the spellings of Wyldblood on freebmd. 1871 - Mary Wellings is listed as a widow living in Wednesfield, - local dist - Heath Town with 3 daughters and baby son William H Wellings. 1871 James Wildblood is listed with wife Ann and 7 year old son James. Looks like Ann dies Jun Qtr 1876 - age fits and then James re-marries 1877 - above. Possible - Marriage Sep Qtr 1864 - James Wildblood and Ann Greatbach - on the same page There is a James Wildblood born Dec Qtr 1863 - age fits for the James on the censuses above BUT is he the son of James and Ann???? Looking at Mary Wellings again, She has daughters in 1871 - Mary J, Sarah A. and --- Martha - aged 6. I can find no Martha Wildblood in 1871 - could she actually be the Martha who is listed as Martha Wildblood aged 16 in 1881 - as James' daughter - possibly??? - if so, she is working as Martha Wellings - a servant in 1891. I can find no suitable Martha Wildblood can be found in 1871 or 1891. Also - once again looking at the 1881 census and comparing Mary Wellings childrens ages, is Welly actually a boy Willie who is listed as a daughter (an original transcribers error from the census schedules to the enumerators books- the scribes 'N'is different from this letter - 'W') and is he therefore Mary's youngest child William H Wellings - who is with James (sen0 and Mary in 1891 - I think this is very probable!!! Mary Wildblood is widowed by 1901 and living with her youngest son William H Wellings and her daughter in law. Now, looking at James junior........ is the son of James and Ann or is he the son of an earlier wife to James (senior)??? The only James Wildblood I can find born in Burslem appears to marry in 1851 - Mary Ann FRANCIS - St Paul Burslem. This couple have a child Ellen in 1861. This James is lodging with the Francis family in 1851 A couple of other Mary's die between 1861 (when the couple are living in Chell) and 1864............ ???? Possibly the 1864 one is the correct one if she is the mother of James. In 1841 James is living with likely parents and siblings. - all above can be easily looked up in the censuses. A conundrum - There is an Ellen Wildblood (who fits to be James daughter) living as a stepdaughter with a Joseph B Mountford and wife Mary Ann plus their children. NB This Mary Ann does NOT fit to be James first wife - either by age or more importantly birth place. You really do need to buy some certificates to sort out this family /ies Hope this gives you some food for thought - so to speak and helps a bit on your quest. Kind regards, Robyn
