The address with the ?? is probably Hezmalhalch Gardens There was a Hezmalhalch Yard as early as 1851 Curiously a Google search brings up a William Hezmalhalch who is an architect and garden designer in California. Hello Janet Have you any idea when the Horton Circuit CD's will be available for purchase from the Bradford FHS? Also, which churches/chapels are included on it? Many thanks. Kind regards Judith
Greetings I suspect that an ancestor of mine may have spent time in jail. It would probably be in the 1920s or 1930s - I am extremely vague about the time. He lived at the time in Leeds. Where could I look for information? If the only way is to read through the newspapers, which Leeds newspaper is best for court information? All the best John Tillotson

Hi Josie Thank you for responding I believe you have the correct family----somewhere in my "mess" I believe I had received info regarding the Eley family--that Maria maiden name was Scales and she would be Joseph's niece---are you saying that the "WE" indicated Joseph as a widower---strange if that is the indication---but from what I have learned that in those days you could not always get the correct info from the census Would you know if the Cemetery you mention has a web site to contact Thanks again and hope to hear from you again My regards Richard ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josie Morson" <josie@themorsons.co.uk> To: <west-riding@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 9:28 PM Subject: Re: [WRY] What Cemetery???? > Richard, could this be him, listed as widowed in the 1881 census. > This is the only one near the age stated > > > Dwelling: New St 16 Ct 5 > Census Place: Barnsley, York, England > Source: FHL Film 1342111 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 4603 Folio 104 > Page 84 > Marr Age Sex Birthplace > George ELEY M 30 M Barnsley, York, England > Rel: Head > Occ: Coal Miner > Maria ELEY M 28 F Barnsley, York, England > Rel: Wife > Abraham ELEY 10 M Barnsley, York, England > Rel: Son > Loais ELEY 8 F Barnsley, York, England > Rel: Dau > Mary A. Hi Andy, >>Have you tried Roger Mallinson's site? _http://www.mallproj-home.co.uk/_ (http://www.mallproj-home.co.uk/) Yes, that's the one I was referring to. I found Selina's correct marriage details here, but she is wrongly assumed to belong to another family, and when I queried what info might available on her real family, I was told that one was unknown to the compilers. So if I do find the right John, there will be another set of data for this website/project too. Thanks for the suggestion. Maggie

Hi Dave, I have "People Finder UK" v9 2004 on disc if that one is not too old/too late for your requirements? An extract from http://www.redcoat.info/memindex3.htm which provides info on the deaths of many military and naval officers and others. *MARSDEN - *Captain Francis - 5th Foot - wounded at Bunker Hill - 17th June 1775. Son of William Marsden, a Wakefield solicitor, and his first wife Elizabeth. Seriosuly wounded at Bunker Hill, he was sent home to Yorkshire, where he lingered for five years, without fully recovering. He died at Burntwood Hall on 12 February 1780, in his 27th year. Memorial at All Saints Church, Wakefield - "Near this place lies the body of Elizabeth, the wife of William Marsden, late of this town, attorney at law who died the 14 August 1766 aged 37 years. Also the body of Francis, their son, a Captain in the 5th Regiment, of Foot who died, on the 12 Feb 1780 aged 27. And also the body of the said Wm Marsden who died the 6th Feb 1783, aged 66. Can anyone help with a John MALLINSON, the father of Selina MALLINSON (and Mary, Harriet, Lucy and George)? Selina appears in the 1841 census aged 11 in Wakefield, having been born there, in a household which seems to be headed by her mother Jane MALLINSON b. abt 1811 and either Jane or John's mother Mary MALLINSON. This Mary was born around 1780 in Hook(e), now East Riding but originally West Riding, and Jane was also born there. John is not included on their return. He is named on Selina's marriage certificate in Dewsbury in 1853, and this says he was a labourer, but does not say he was deceased. I estimate John was born around 1805. It might have been anywhere in Yorkshire, but I'd plump for Wakefield as Jane and Mary moved there from Hook(e). I can't find his marriage to any Jane on the IGI, which should have been abt 1825, as their eldest child Mary was born 1826. I've checked the Mallinson website which is excellent, but doesn't include this family. There are too many John Mallinsons in the censuses to identify him when he isn't living with his family. I can track Jane through quite a long time after Selina married, but John never seems to appear. If anyone can point me towards where I should look next for John's birth and marriage, I'd be grateful. Many thanks Maggie
I'd just like to acknowledge the great help I've received from this list in my search for Alfred TILLOTSON. I'd like to highlight the special kindness and knowledge of Judith Varley. All the best John Tillotson
Morning John No idea what went wrong with the link at your end, I've just rechecked it and it seems ok to me. Here is the info: No. 6463023 Lance-Corporal Eugene Noel Larnef, Army Air Corps (North Harrow). Gazette Issue 36180 published on the 21 September 1943. Page 8 of 22 John as you can see from above, the PDF file reads the last letter of Eugenes surname as an f, this is due to a mark on the original converting the r to the f. If you go to the Gazette site here http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/AdvancedSearch.aspx?geotype=London&sb=issue and use the issue number (above) , and then the page number 4220, it will pull up the required file. Andy, Silly me, must be as blind as a bat!! Once again, thank you very much indeed. John
Hi, St. Luke's and they seem to have lost their records for 1918/1922 or so because I have not been able to access them, my mother was there in 1920-1923. St. Catherine's was a Mother and Babies Home but my Aunt born 1918 was taken there and adopted from there in 1920-1923 period. I have had no luck in obtaining records from there either. On one hand the adoption Act didn't come in until 1927 so it is hard to get records but on the other it means you can get their original birth certificates. I find the BDM details in the 1900s quite useful. They can be accessed on line. The church's seem to have been active in adoptions and relatives also took children in. Jean in S.
