Dawn, it is most likely some sort of spam that was mimicking your email address, and it didn't actually come from you. Spammers get hold of email addresses from various sources such as web registrations and send out unsolicited mail, disguising the actual source of the mail with email aliases. I suspect that this is what happened - not your fault. Another clue to this is that I never saw the questionable email as a post to the list - only your follow-up apology with it attached. I wouldn't worry about it.
