    3. I have some new information on my West line, and I am sharing it in the hopes it will connect with someone else researching and we can compare notes. Thank you Karon Mazie Obituary Tama County, Iowa 1901 Alexander W. West was born in Muskindon (Muskingum) County, Ohio Dec. 16, 1831 and died at Iowa City, January 1. 1901. While 8 years old the family moved to Morgan County Ohio, where he grew to manhood. In 1854 he, prompted by the desire to find larger fields to cuiltivate and to build for himself a better home, came west and entered the land in Tama county which was him home when he died. After entering his land, he went to Jackson County, Iowa where in 1856 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah C Sherlock. To them were born three children. In 1862 he came back to Tama County and began the improvement of the land he had entered. In September, 1863 his wife died leaving him with three small children, one of whom, the youngest soon followed its mother, leaving Issac West and Pauline A., wife James A Whitely. The fall of 1864 he married Miss Mary Feeley. By this union, there were nine children, four of whom are living. All the children and wife were at the funeral. Mr. West ! was a man of very pronounced convictions, never faltering admist the most severe reverses, when he believed a thing to be right. A man of robust constitution, he lavbered earnestly all through the years of hardship that must be met in the development of a new country. Thus again, we are called upon to lay away one more of the old land marks. One of those who braved hardships of the development of Tama County. The funeral services, by special request of the deceased was conducted by Rev. I. F. Hammit in the Presbyterian church which was filled with old friends and neighbors, who by their presence, showed their interest for the departed and sympathy for those left behind.
