Isaac West ,son of Joseph West and Jane Owen ,was living in Randolph Co., NC by 1784. Probably much earlier. He had a son Jacob who married Sarah/Sallie Harlan the granddaughter of Nancy Ward a well known cherokee. I have been told that Jacob and Sarah married in TN. Lived in GA for many years before they were forced to go to OK. just prior to the trail of tears. Whats of special interest is that I remember reading that either them or someone connected was from Roane Co.,TN? Nancy Wards daughter Kati was married 3 times. Her first marriage was to Samuel Candy. Samuel and Kati's son Samuel "Candy, Jr. married a Elizabeth West. I have always believed that this Elizabeth West was somehow related to the above Jacob West but I don't know how.... Kati 3rd. marriage was to Ellis Harlan . Without muddying the waters too much, Ellis Harlan was from a Quaker family from Chester Co.,PA just as John West and Jane Owen. Ellis Harlans daughter, Sally Harlan was the one that married Jacob West above. Jacob Wests wife,Rosannah Lewis, her neice also married into this family. Her brother, David's daughter, Hanna, married, Sarah Harlan's brother Ezekial Harlan. These Wests along with the Harlans were living in Indian Ter. in TN, GA, and OK. The last piece that I wanted to throw out there was that Jacob's brother, John T. West (my line) lived in Franklin Co.,VA. There is a West cemetery there where several of my family members are buried. In this cemetery are some CLOUD graves as well. I have wondered how they might be related to the WEST's Anyway, this post might be worth saving for a few of you interested in this West line. Lisa Greensboro, NC
