Can you give me a clue, Tina? What WESTs and when? How are you connected to them? There are a number of WESTs with roots in Estill County, but only a relatively few (pun unintended) stayed. Mine were in Boone County, IN, by 1830. The Estill County Ky. Wests originate in that area or was Kentucky another migration as was their move to Indiana? I am curious since my line of West's descended from Joseph West and wife Joanna Smith from New York and Conn. I have only the line of my Great Grandfather, Ira Allen West and wife Rosina Elizabeth Gillett who left New York and went to Dekalb County Indiana. I find Ira, wife, Rosa, and children in the 1880 Dekalb County census. I know they left Indiana for Kansas in late 1880s and filed claims in 1886 around Cimmarron Ks., They uprooted and took advantage of the govt land in the final opening of the Oklahoma Land run and Cherokee Strip and settled in and around Pond Creek Ok and south central Kansas. I cannot find any information on Joseph West and Joanna Smith or any siblings of Ira Allen West. This I would like to find!
