There were several West families living in the same vicinity at the time, and they are all related to the family of John West and Elizabeth Frazier. John and Elizabeth moved to TN from NC 1832-36. What I am trying to do is find Wests that are carpenters as well. My James West was married to Amanda Jane Ragsdale in Dec 1866 [I think, from what I have found] and he was much older than she was. Amanda was b. abt. Oct 1860 in Harris Co., GA and James was b. [according to 1900 census] Aug 1818 in TN but have seen other records that he was born in KY. That would be because the person giving the information only gave what they thought was right. Also according to the 1900 census James' parents were born in MD but that could have been his grandparents or great grandparents. Pirley 'Pearl' Andrew West was my grandmother, she was born 22 Sep 1875 in Water Valley, Yalobusha Co., MS, m. Feb 1898 to Arthur Augustus Manning in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS. Pearl had a sister that died in Holly Springs, Ada (West) Preher, a brother, Jim West who married a girl, Estelbe [spelling] 'Estelle' Juanita, from Ireland about 1900 and they lived in Memphis, TN and as far as I can f! ind only had one daughter, Trunella [spelling].
