    3. I received this from another genealogy mailing list and think it's a very good idea! You can, of course, change the wording to suit your wishes. Lisa ------------ A Genealogical Codicil to My Last Will and Testament To my spouse, children, or guardian. Upon my demise it is requested that you DO NOT dispose of any of my Genealogical records, books, files, notebooks or computer programs for a period of two years. During this time period, please attempt to find one or more persons who would be willing to take custody of the said materials and the responsibility of maintaining and continuing the family histories. In the event you do not find anyone to accept these materials, please contact the genealogical organizations that I have been a member of to determine if they will accept some parts or all of my genealogical materials. [List of organizations and addresses at bottom.] Please remember that my genealogical endeavors consumed a great deal of time, travel, and money. Therefore please do not ignore my requests. 3. Thank you for this information. I plan on using it but I think I will extend the years to five years before disposal or in fact it might be turned over to some library, etc. Edith Lisa <[email protected]> wrote: I received this from another genealogy mailing list and think it's a very good idea! 3. If you live in the Missouri area, Mid-Continent Public Library North Branch in Independence, MO. has a very large genealogy library and they would accept this material. In case you might be vacating in area they have census records for all 50 states and every year besides subscribing to several internet sites where you can access census records and then look at orginial if you wish. They are rated in the top 10 genealogy library. So if you are ever in the area check them out. They are located about 1/2 mile east of Truman's Library in Independence, Missouri. On Friday they close around 5 or 6 but otherwise they are usually open till 9p.m. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edith Gomez" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2004 7:25 AM Subject: Re: [WEST-L] Very good idea -- Add this to your will > Thank you for this information. 3. Lisa, This is certainly something to think about. Over the past 25 - 30 years I've become very well acquainted with a professional researcher in Salt Lake City and he is LDS. He has done some very good British research for me since my father-in-law was born in the UK. During this time I have shared much of my accumulated records with him and he has put them in the LDS church records in Salt Lake City (with my permission). This was the result of our discussion of what might happen to my many years of research if no one else in my family wants to carry on with it. As he said--they will live on "forever" there. I know this would not work for everyone, but feel that I am comfortable with it. Every now and then I see some of my info in the LDS on-line web sites--a particular family that does not have a lot of research work shown on-line. Doris
