I am not sure how your J. West fits into my WEST family tree. There were several West families living in the same vicinity at the time, and they are all related to the family of John West and Elizabeth Frazier. John and Elizabeth moved to TN from NC 1832-36. If you think there is a connection, please contact me privately and I will give you the information. Myra
Myra and others: Do you have any living males who carry the WEST surname from the line of John WEST / Elizabeth FRAZIER? It would add greatly to our data to have your line represented in our WEST DNA project. I think you have several descendents doing genealogy. I am a recent subscriber to the West List, and I noticed the query from Edith Gomex, and Myra's reply concerning West families in Gibson County, TN. Edith had mentioned that her great grandfather James West was in Marshall County, MS in the 1900 Census. I too have West ancestors from Marshall County, MS, who were born in TN. My great great grandfather, William Berry West, is listed in the census enumerations for Tippah and Marshall Counties, MS, in 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. William Berry West married Mary (Polly) Swain around 1846/1847 and they had 12 Children, born 1848-1867. I am descended from their son John Thomas West, born 22 July 1855 in Marshall County. Census records indicate William Berry West was born in TN around 1822, and in the 1880 census enumeration for Marshall County MS, he indicates that both of his parents were born in N. C. We have never been able to determine the parents of William Berry West, born in TN, whose parents were born in N.C. Any help would be appreciated.
