    3. Thanks very much for some of the leads -- it at least gives me some lines to look at more closely... Marthella, in response to your questions: Martha Alice (West) Rogers also known as Mattie (died about 1890) was married to Willis Marion "Doc" Rogers. They had 3 children, Mary/Molly (1880), William Henry (1885) and John Burton (1899). I do know that Mattie died when John Burton was still an infant (ca 1890) and Doc's brother, Henry Rogers, raised John Burton in Cooperton, Oklahoma where John is buried. Doc moved to Stephens County, Oklahoma about 1891 and remarried to Rachel Mathews. Mary/Molly Rogers married W. Jess Green. She was hit by a car and killed, in December of 1936, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. William Henry Rogers (my grandfather) died in November 1955 in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma. I do not know who Mattie's parents are -- the only written clue I have about them is the "Grandmother West" entry in William Henry Rogers' funeral book. I never even thought about her still being alive in 1955. The only other story tied to the West family is that Mattie was the only daughter of a wealthy family from the Dallas area. They did not approve of my great-grandfather because he was a "cowpoke" and so Doc and Mattie eloped. I hope this clears the lines up a little bit -- but as you can see I really don't have any "West" details to work with. I am just hoping that someone will recognize the 95-101 year life-span. Thanks again for all the interesting leads -- if you have any more, please fling them my way! Isn't family fun! 3. Do you know the bases for the name of "John Burton"?
