Karon, It seems to me that you guys have an awful lot of work to do by sending out the West document, so I have a suggestion. I posted it before, and I'm not sure how that turned out, but you could do far better by making the Document available for everyone to see, so that everyone won't keep asking you to send it individually. Also, it could help others who haven't even seen any of the messages about the document if you would post it to a public database. My suggestion is at the USGenweb/Rootsweb Projects sites, which consists of millions of user contributed records having to do with genealogy. Their databases are perfectly searchable when someone performs a Search from the Rootsweb or USGenweb search pages, and your data would come up for all to see. I don't know if your document pertains to any particular State or County, but there is a database called the Family Group Sheet Project, which is for a family living in one particular State, County or an International family, which would cover all locations. It is very easy to submit documents to Rootsweb/USGenweb, I do it all of the time, and they make the records available for viewing within a few hours. The only requirement is that it is submitted in Text form, but if you don't know how to do that, they can convert it for you. It really is a worthwhile alternative and it makes it available for all to see, and you may even get contacted by someone else looking for people on the document, I know I do all of the time which helps me greatly, too. The link to the site is : http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ Take a look at it and the instructions and see if it's something you might want to try. It's really a wonderful website, and for those of you not familiar with either Rootsweb or USGenweb, you might want to take a look at their home pages to do searches for records, there is an awful lot to offer there. It is not my list, I am only helping out. I couldn't act on this suggestion unless it was my own list. It would be up to Sandra if she wants to do it that way. As for cluttering up the list, anyone who wants a copy can write to me direct at karon@yvn.com that will keep the request off of the list. I need their address, and when they send the request through the list sometimes their address doesn't come to me. If they will send the request direct to me, including their address, I will send the list directly to them, keeping the list free of that bit of clutter. I request that who ever requests the list let me know if they have received it or not, that can be done writing to karon@yvn.com . I realize some will forget and request through the list, but I am doing everything I can to prevent clutter on the list, while helping get the list to the folks who want it. Perhaps the folks who want to point out things about the clutter could label their post WEST LIST COMPLAINT so it doesn't clutter up the list for the rest of us. I don't say that to be mean, but every complaint has been noted and an attempt to correct the situation has been made. Perhaps a little patience would help us all. May you all be blessed in your research and may all you brick walls crumble. Deloris I asked early on if there was a place that the document could be posted so people could go and get it on their own, but none was found. There were no suggestions offered nor did anyone else offer space on their personal site. The site you suggested http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/<http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/> is for family group sheets which is not what the document is. I'm not sure it would even post there. I agree that there should be some place on Rootsweb for this type of thing. I would think other family lists have had similar documents to share. Suggestions anyone? What about it List Coordinator? Do you know where this might be put?
