    3. Hi I found on the LDS site an Eliheu West born 16 Oct 1838 in Fulton,Illinois parents are Eliheu Preston West and Ellen Moss submitter is Sarah J Rust of IL. EW it would be nice to know George W. West middle name. The middle name is either a last name or first name of the grandparents. Also, place of birth, parents information. Their is the Scottish naming pattern if anyone is familiar with it. Male side first great-grandfathers first name the Grandfather,Brother the Female side Great-grandmother,Grandmmother,sister,Aunt etc and these are usually used as first names of children. Also, when new blood married into the family the child would have the last name is used for middle name and it seems to go throughout the family groups. Then, the middle name is used to establish birth line by using the maiden names of the mother,grandmother,great-grandmother for both male and female line. So, if you have been wondering why the middle name is odd that is why. My Great-Grandfather is William Duthie West born in Pennan,Scotland. William is my Great-Great Grandfather and father of William. Duthie is the maiden name of my Great-Great Grandmother and mother of William. I am not born to West from the early days of the United States but I believe early family members from my family line must have come. My mother just laughed and didn't tell us any thing but Scotch Irish. Now I am trying to locaate the West families I am related to and it is so hard finding back further than Elihew West and Eleanor Moss West. My Great Grandfather is George W. West so if any of you can help me with that family or further I would appreciate it. I did through some of the relatives help find Eli and Eleanor West in Texas later on and was so grateful to her for that. They sure did go from state to state back then not to have much transportation like we have now. Or maybe they had more than we thought/ ew ==== WEST Mailing List ==== To contact WEST-L listowner send a post to Myra Chambers at WEST-admin@rootsweb.com<mailto:WEST-admin@rootsweb.com> ==== WEST Mailing List ==== To unsubscribe send a post to <WEST-L-request@rootsweb.com> Type UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message.
