Jane(t) Burnside), born 1759, place unknown, died 1844 in Huron, NY. His son, Calvin Brookins WEST, was born in Maryland, Otsego, NY in 1816, moved to Defiance, Ohio before 1844 and died at sea on the ship Sierra Nevada after contracting Chlolera in Panama in route to San Francisco -> Oregon with his family in 1855. CB WEST came to OR in the late 1840's and early 1850's and had a 9000 acre land grant near Roseburg, OR. After his death, his family settled there - the original land grant is still intact and, although no longer in the family, there is a museum located there dedicated to the Wests. I have CB Wests pencil written diaries of his travels in the OR territories. His daughter, Anna West (Webster) is my gggrandmother.
