    3. I ask about these Wests every so often, but here goes again just in case. The Wests I'm concerned with lived in Ohio and Kentucky from about 1810 to 1910 when they moved further West to Montana and Washington State. Collateral family names are: Shipley, Pointer, Armstrong, Tolle and Lee. A peculiarity I think I've traced to the Shipleys is that some of them, including several in my family, are missing either the upper-right eyetooth, or the one in the opposing lower-left quadrant. I'm missing one, my brother misses the other, and my son is missing both. My grandfather, James Pointer West married Estella Shipley in West Union. Ohio in about 1890. His father, George West, married Abigail Pointer there in 1865. His parents were Samuel West and Nancy Story who were married in Bracken Co., KY about 1846. I've been searching for Samuel's parents without success for many years. Recent DNA testing may have confirmed a match with Martin West of Australia, but all we know so far is that we probably share common ancestry within the time frame of family surnames having been adopted. Our records are there to be seen in the WEST family DNA information on line, and we're eagerly waiting for more Wests to be tested. Hope this information rings a bell with someone out there. 3. Hi, Does it do any good to have the maternal DNA tested, I mean really? I have the teeth thing and my West's are paternal. I inherited it from my mother and she has no West's BUT her family is from the Morganton area!
