    3. I don't think this is the same James Madison West. Mine was born in Old Washington, Guernsey county, Ohio, August 27, 1810, married Nancy N. Smith, and died April 16, 1882 in Senecaville, Guernsey county, Ohio. His parents were Thomas West, Sr. and Margaret Howell. Was your James Madison West born in Ohio or did he move there? What was his date of birth? His wife's name, etc? I descend from a James Madison West, b. Aug 1818 in TN and think he was married twice and the wife I descend from was Amanda Jane Ragsdale, b. abt. Oct 1850 in GA/AL and they were married in Hardeman Co., TN Dec 1866 and later moved to Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS where they lived and died. According to the censuses from 1870-1910 James says his parents were born in MD. Does any of this sound familiar? Now I am trying to locaate the West families I am related to and it is so hard finding back further than Elihew West and Eleanor Moss West. My Great Grandfather is George W. I did through some of the relatives help find Eli and Eleanor West in Texas later on and was so grateful to her for that. They sure did go from state to state back then not to have much transportation like we have now. 3. Thank you for your answer. Can you imagine how many James Madison West's they might be in this world. My Great Grandfather, James Madison West, even named a daughter Ada Mattison West. 3. James Madison West seems to be a really popular name in the West family.
