A branch of my husband's family came from Finland. I found old family papers that prove that the progenitor and his wife were both born in Scotland, went to Sweden, then to Finland and finally ended up in Wisconsin, where the family name was changed. My husband has cousins who were highly offended at the suggestion that their ancestor was anything but Finnish! We just let them believe what they want to believe. As one said, we can't pick our ancestors -- nor could they pick us! JMA
