Hi Gary, Leta Brock Stone's book, The West Family Register has this to say about the Wests in Monmouth Co., NJ: A drift of migration from Rhode Island to long Island, and thence to Monmouth County, New Jersey, carried in its wake Bartholomew and Robert West, Sr., in 1670. In 1681, William, Stephen, and Robert West received land in Monmouth County, and according to the History of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Audrey West, the wife of on Stephen, received land about 1675. The early ancestors of this line was Mathew West, of Rhode Island, who had the following sons: 1. Nathaniel West 2. John West 3. Robert West, Sr. 4. Bartholomew West 5. Francis West 1. Nathaniel West died about 1659, leaving a son, Nathaniel West 3. Robert West, Sr., born in Rhode Island, later lived in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. He married 1st, Elizabeth, who died before 1697, and 2nd, Frances Stout, a widow, by whom he had one son, only. He had the following children: 6. Elizabeth West 7. Mary West m. Cammack 8. Joseph West 9. Robert West, Jr. 10. Anne west m. Henry Chamberlain 11. John West 4. Bartholomew West married Catherine Almy, who died in 1703. He died about 1675, leaving: 12. Bartholomew West 13. William West 14. John west 15. Stephen West 16. Audrey West m. Webley 17. anne West m. Wooley 5. Francis West, born in Rhode Island, moved to New Jersey, where he died, leaving two sons, Francis and Richard West. 8. Joseph West, son of Robert West and Elizabeth, married Deborah Slocum, and they had a daughter, Margaret West, who died in 1869. She married, in 1799, Brittain Edwards, who was born in 1772, and died in 1851. 12. Bartholomew West, son of Bartholomew West and Catherine Almy, died in 1766.
