I just learned the other day that not all the Wests in North Carolina and Virginia are descendants of the Lords de la Warr. Some of them were evidently poor emigrants from Ireland. Does anyone know more about this? I've been searching for the parents of Joshua West, b. 1725 in Camden, Currituck Co., North Carolina. He married Sarah (Sally) Cowell, b. 1758 of Ladeau Ridge, Currituck Co., North Carolina. From all I've been told by my grandparents, etc., we were supposedly descended from the famous Wests of Virginia, but I'm beginning to have my doubts. Can anyone help me make a connection to his (and Sarah's) parents? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul West
