    3. Debby K. and others I have been reading in the Strickland Books, reply about Patsy Overstreet & John West this is some of what I have found, don't know if it is a help or makes for more confusion. >From the book, Misc..Court records Wayne Co.MS. W.R.Cooley ,vs..Mrs. Levinia Douglas,Sept.Term Court 1912. Action to quiet title to land in NE 1/4 of Section 11,Township 8 North,Range 8 west-160 acres. W.R.Cooley states that he has occupied this land for 15 years and that he bought it from JOHN WEST who is a bro..of Mrs..Lavenia Douglas. The land originally belong to JOHN WEST,the father of JOHN A.WEST.John West received land by patent from U.S. J.M.Stewart,Chancellor. I looked up land records of the above description and it is, Document Nr. 3431 misc..Document Nr.:14443 Homestead,Signature date 8/19/1891.John West. Cooley said he has occupied land for 15 years so he probley bought it in 1897 not sure if John died or not,but since Cooley is dealing with John's sister, any suggestions any one? In the book who lived where Wayne CO.MS. states that Samuel Lee b.1775 son of Zachariah & Lucy (Farmer) LEE of Robeson CO.N.C. Samuel 1st.m Sarah Slay and 2nd m.Patsy Overstreet, daughter of John & Catherine Overstreet,Patsy was widow of JOHN WEST. Since PATSY O.was married to this JOHN WEST and he died, that would make JOHN A.West her son or step-son any suggestions? IN the 1841 State census,Wayne CO.MS,there is listed a JOHN WEST 4-males ---- 2-females IN the 1845 St.census Wayne Co.MS. John West SR. 6-males-----3 females John West JR. 1-male------2 females In 1866 census John West,1 male under 10 2(10-20) 1-(40-50) Females 2-(10-20) 1-(40-50) Sorry if this is to long,I am also trying to straighten out these West & Overstreet, any and all help welcome.
