> roll call. Just names, dates and locations. I think I'm searching for the 'needle in the haystack' - Nathaniel West who served in the War of 1812. He appears to be the grandfather of my Great-great-grandmother Sarah Hubbell Smith according to a short paragraph in The History of Macomb County, MIchigan. Given that tidbit of information, I would imagine that I'm searching for a Nathaniel West, probably from the northern states (Sarah was born in Bristol, Ontario Co., NY - 4 Sep 1834), with a daughter who married into a Hubbell family. I've been unable to find any information on Sarah's parents that might give me a clue to Nathaniel's identity. When she appears at age 15 in the 1850 census of Bristol, Sarah is living in the household of Gilbert & Mary Francis. (a Malissa Herendeen, age 11, lived there too).
