Hi, any help that anyone could give would be very much appreciated. I am looking for information on: Durant L. (D. L.) West b. 1812, NC m. abt. 1838 probably Ga. to Narcissa Hurst b. 1824, GA, possibly Macon County, died 1878, Sebastion County, Lavaca, Ark. Children: James J. b. 1839, Ga., died Dale County, Ala. from illness during Civil War. Mary b. 1841, Ala. Martha Elizabeth b. 1843, Ala., m. Dr. G. N. Croom, died 1937, Ft. Smith Ark. Giorgian b. 1845, Ala. Munroe Clayton b. 1847, Ala. died Tunica County, Miss. (Archileris C.) b. 1849, Ala. John B. b. 1851, Ala. Walter Durant b. 1855, Ala., died 1946, Sebastion County, Lavaca, Ark. Emma D. b. 1860, Ala. died 1936, Sebastion County, Lavaca, Ark. Beauregard L. b. 1864, Ala. R. E. b. 1865, Ala. Laura J. b. 1869, Ala. I think D. L. West may have moved from N.C. to Ga. with his family during childhood or young adulthood. After he married Narcissa Hurst, they lived in Ga. a short while then moved to Dale County, Ala. about 1840. They lived on the county line of Coffee and Dale County, so they were counted in the census of Coffee Co. one year and another year they were counted in Dale Co. They were living in what was at one time called Haw Ridge, Ala. The government was trying to settle western Arkansas and there was land to be had there, so, sometime around 1875, they moved to Lavaca, Sebastion County, Ark. 1. I am trying to find the parents to D. L. West and the parents of his wife, Narcissa Hurst. 2. Locate where each were born. 3. Of the children, I only know the history of Walter Durant West, Emma D. West, Martha Elizabeth West and a little about James J. West and Monroe Clayton West. I can find nothing on the other children. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have information on this West family. Becky Davenport becky1021@aol.com
