If at first you dont suceed... Here is yet another attempt to locate the parents of my GGG Grandfather, John William West. The following is all the information i have on him. If anyone is decended from him or knows who his parents might be or have any idea how i may figure it out, please contact me. John William West was born in Gouldsboro, Maine in 1828. I have written to the Gouldsboro, Maine town hall or whatever you call it, (in an attempt to locate a birth certificate for him - i got no response). According to the 1860 census, John was listed as a Seaman, and living in Columbia, Washington County, Maine, with his wife, Prudence "Dency" (Tenney) West. and thier child Uriah E. West. (my GG Grandfather). According to the 1870 census, John was listed as a Laborer, and living in Columbia Falls, Maine, with his wife Dency, sons Uriah and Daniel, and Daughters Mary and Unice. John William West also appears in the book "Early Pleasant River Families - Washington County" on page 559 as the husband of Dencie Tenney, as a laborer at Columbia Falls, and Milbridge, Maine. It also makes the note of [COL 1860, CFS 1870] i dont have the book, just photocopies, so i dont know exactly what that may mean. He died on Feb. 14 1905, in Milbridge, Maine. I have a copy of his death certificate, and the "parents" section is left off as "not given". (Just a note, if any of you ever find yourself in the position of filling out a death certificate - LIST THE PARENTS! AAArrrrgghhh!) I also have the death certificate of Mrs. John W. West (Dencie) and that isnt any help either. John W. and Dencie West were married on Nov. 28, 1857. again, i am searching for his parents, so if there is anyone out there who can help me, please let me know. thanks, Christopher West Kitsuno@aol.com
